Meet the Gorilla:
The Story Behind Our New Mascot
Heads up… there’s a new mascot swinging through the Frisia universe! Have you already spotted our gorilla on social media, packaging, or at one of our events? In this blog, we’ll tell you the story behind our new mascot and why this bold, playful, and rebellious gorilla is now the new face of Frisia.
Why a gorilla?
Admittedly: the world is full of mascots, but only a few truly stick. We were looking for a character that perfectly reflects who Frisia is today: colourful, rebellious, playful and warm at the same time. Someone who embraces those little moments when you think, “Why not?” That’s what we call “The Sweet Life”. ☝️
Enter: the gorilla. He challenges you to show your true colours, to have fun, and to not take life too seriously. He’s a ‘gentle giant’, just like us at Frisia: bold, but always with a smile.
He’s powerful without being distant. Tough, yet with a soft look. Confident and grounded, yet curious and playful. He invites you to stand out: more colourful, more cheerful, more you. He’s all about choosing joy, no matter what others might think.
In short: our new gorilla embodies everything we want our brand to represent: spontaneous, rebellious, and yet warm and inviting. A friend who reminds you that life is already serious enough… so why not colour outside the lines once in a while?

Het ontwerpen van onze mascotte was geen klassieke branding-oefening. We wilden een karakter creëren dat echt leeft. Een figuur die niet alleen visueel aanspreekt, maar ook een houding heeft. Met als doel om expressie, energie en authenticiteit uit te dragen.
De eerste schetsen waren ruw en speels. Laag na laag groeide onze gorilla van anonieme schetsen tot een echt 3D-icoon. Met zijn grote ogen, zachte blik en kleurrijke details is hij nu de visuele vertaling van onze “Dare to live the sweet life”-filosofie. Een hele evolutie ❤️

Onze gorilla is meer dan gewoon ‘leuk op een verpakking’. Hij staat voor vrijheid, expressie en de moed om gewoon jezelf te zijn. Hij is een speelse reminder dat het leven niet zwart-wit is, maar pastelroze, hemelsblauw en citroengeel. Dat je mag spelen, experimenteren en genieten.
Hij is jouw metgezel in #DareToLiveTheSweetLife. Want uiteindelijk draait het daarom: het leven net iets leuker maken. Soms met een snoepje. Soms gewoon door unapologetically jezelf te zijn.
